Why I'm doing this

We play thirty-five shows a year, mostly 300 to 900-capacity rooms between Asheville and Chicago, plus four festival slots in the summer. About eighteen thousand people stood in front of us last year. We book it ourselves, we drive it ourselves, and we have never had a sponsor. The bass drum head is the most photographed square foot in live music. Every phone in the room points at it, the house photographer shoots it, and it is the frame people crop to when they post. The backdrop behind the riser is the other one. It is up for the whole set and it is what you see in any wide shot of the stage. Both of those are printed. A drum head with a logo on it runs about ninety dollars and a backdrop panel is around three hundred, and we have to pay for them before the first show, which is why those two ask for an advance. Everything else on this page costs us nothing but our own attention: the poster, the Instagram, the merch table.
